The study used the descriptive correlational design as it sought to determine the level of bilingualism in insruction and the communicative competence of fourth year student, and to cite the significant relationship of two variables. The respondents of the study were the fourth year student officially enrolled for the school year 2008 in Holy Cross of Hagonoy, Inc. and Holy Cross Academy of Digos. In answering the sub-problems raised in chapter 1, the study used the Mean and Pearons's statistical tools to treat the data obtained. The found out the level of bilingualism in instruction in two schools was frequently observed in classroom instruction, the level of communicative competence of the respondent was very low, and there is no significant relationship between bilingualism in instruction and the communicative competence of the respondents. Based from the findings of the study, the research recommended that the school for it gives various education opportunities and benefits to the student especially in second language learning. The department of education should give greater focus and emphasis in improving the second language teaching in the country by proving all schools a comprehensive language program which will be followed by all schools in order for the students to be substantially immersed in the second language. | |
